School Partnerships

Step Into Art programs reach nearly 500 Boston children each year through partnerships with schools all across the city. We partner with seven Boston Public Schools, offering rich learning experiences for third-grade students featuring art from the MFA and the Gardner Museum. We have also built a unique, longstanding sixth-grade partnership program with Mother Caroline Academy in Dorchester focused on learning inspired by portraits from the Harvard Art Museums. All of our programs actively engage children with great works of art from Boston museums and provide new opportunities for self-expression through art-making and writing. “The magic of our Step Into Art work was the combination of art-making and art-viewing…. Too often, kids learn about something without getting hands-on experience. Working in different media – pastels, pencils, and poetry – students created their own art in response to what they had seen on the museum walls. Students who struggle with writing were engrossed in their poems….We are so fortunate to welcome Step Into Art to the Murphy School”
